At Swiss Crochet, we love celebrating creativity. In our Meet the Maker series, we highlight designers and makers whose passion, skill, and imagination bring the craft to life. Each feature introduces you to their story and showcases the stunning work they create.
Let me introduce you to Johanna Lindahl, the creative force behind Mijo Crochet.
Known for her beautifully textured shawls, elegant accessories, and thoughtful use of color, Johanna’s designs combine timeless style with approachable construction, inspiring crocheters around the world to create projects that are both beautiful and enjoyable to make.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a crochet designer from Sweden, and I work from my home in a small city called Trollhättan, where I live together with my husband and dog next to the forest.
The nature gives me energy and boosts my creativity.
I have worked with crochet patterns for more than 8 years now, and this spring/summer my work will be part of an exhibition in Tidaholm’s art gallery. I’m one of 7 crochet artists that will show our different works during a month.
Hopefully the exhibition will travel to other cities in Sweden to show people how versatile and beautiful the art of crochet is.

Where in your practice do playfulness or experimentation appear most naturally?
I always experiment! It’s very rare that I know how a design will look when I start it. I have a feeling or a vague idea of what I want to make, but the design often changes many times during the process.
What has been the most transformative skill or lesson you’ve learned since you began creating?
To follow my own pace and style.
If you could preserve one aspect of handmade culture for future generations, what would it be?
To take your time to craft and create is an important way to calm down in a busy world, and to feel the joy handmade items give.
