Gütermann – Elastic Thread Spool

The Gütermann Elastic Thread is a versatile addition to your crafting toolkit. While traditionally used in sewing for techniques like gathering, smocking and shirring, it can also be a valuable tool in crochet to add stretch, shape retention, and improved grip to your projects.

In crochet, this fine elastic thread can be used in several creative ways:

• Woven between stitches for subtle shaping or reinforcement
• Held together with your main yarn and crocheted normally, adding elasticity throughout the fabric
• Crocheted onto the fabric surface in an afterthought round, perfect for targeted areas

Adding elastic thread is especially useful at the edges of necklines, cuffs, sleeves, and the top edges of socks – anywhere you want your crochet to hug gently and hold its shape.

Each spool contains 10 metres of high-quality elastic thread made from a 64% polyester and 36% polyurethane blend. It is washable up to 60°C and available in 10 basic colors to match or blend with your project.
