YARN 13 – Wadden

This issue shares the joy and wonder of the unique environment of the Wadden—an expansive landscape of sea, sandbanks, and around fifty islands stretching along the coastlines of the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark. Awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 2009, the Wadden Sea National Park is celebrated in the thirteenth issue of YARN Bookazine through its diverse habitats, rich wildlife, and deep cultural significance.

YARN 13 – Wadden features 17 modern crochet and knitting patterns inspired by the land, sea, and animals of the region. The color palette balances bright shades drawn from berries and lighthouses scattered across the Wadden islands with softer, neutral tones reflecting beaches, dunes, mudflats, and tidal waters. Using a wide range of yarns and fibers—from crisp cottons to cosy pure wool—the designs explore a variety of crochet and knitting techniques. An additional latch hook rug design completes the collection.

The lookbook is divided into four chapters—Landscape, Coastal Life, Holiday Time, and Tides. The patterns range from garments to toys, capturing the flora and fauna of the region, the dramatic atmosphere of the landscape, and the everyday pastimes shared by locals and visitors alike, such as cycling along the coast.
